Pediatric cancer will affect some 10,500 children in the U.S. in 2021, says reports from the American Cancer Society. While 5-year survival rates have increased from 63% in the 70s to 79% coming into the new millennium, the improved rate of survival doesn't apply to every child. Michigan Health lab researchers have current data showing black, Hispanic, and other minority children have "poorer five-year survival rates than their white peers."
