Kathleen Quintas CEO/Founder

kathleenPrior to founding Here to Serve, Kathleen Quintas designed and managed the local, national and international fundraising programs of over 100 nonprofits through her work with two of the largest marketing/communications and fundraising agencies in North America, the Russ Reid Company and Grizzard Communications. She also was responsible for the philanthropic and volunteer initiatives of a California nonprofit serving children and families in crisis with social and mental health services. She has served in the field of nonprofit fundraising, marketing and communications for nonprofits and corporate philanthropy programs for the past 12 years. Prior to this, she had her own marketing and communications agency after being Vice President at a direct marketing agency. Rounding out her background is her experience in telecommunications at TeleTech and journalism at McGraw-Hill. Learn more: Kathleen is also a mother and wife who has been through life-threatening medical events while holding down a full-time job. Both her son and husband were diagnosed with cancer six months apart; her son with Stage 4 non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and her husband with leukemia. They were treated in two different hospitals across town from each other; her son at City of Hope in Duarte, CA and her husband at UCLA Medical Center in Westwood, CA. The magnitude of her personal crisis allowed Kathleen to experience the physical, spiritual, intellectual and emotional toll it takes. She knows the challenges such an event can bring about and she also has met dozens and dozens of other people who have gone through crises and gained knowledge from their struggles and needs. Kathleen Quintas is a graduate of Ohio University where she majored in Communications and holds a Bachelor of Science in Journalism. She has been a contributor to industry organizations and trade journals on the topics of fundraising, marketing and communications. She has also spoken at trade conferences and seminars on these subjects.

Krista Granger

Krista Granger is Director and Senior Leasing Counsel at Westfield Corporation, which is one of the world’s leading shopping center companies with iconic retail destinations in London, New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles.  Krista holds a degree in law from Western State University College of Law and is a member of the State Bar of California.  Here to Serve’s focus on providing support to caregivers resonates with Krista and is why she chose to serve on the Board of Here to Serve, as she is personally aware of the stress of caring for a loved one facing a health crisis and the necessity of support from others to continue providing that care.


Irma Granger

Irma Granger is Here to Serve's Board Chair. She is an HR technology professional with over 20 years’ experience in this field leading development, management and execution of HR technology strategies, new systems project implementations as well as managing operational units in both public and private sector organizations. She currently works as an Engagement Manager within IBM's West Region Workday Practice. Prior to that she was Managing Director, HR Systems and Shared Services at MUFG Union Bank, N.A., for 15 years. Irma's experience and responsibilities have also included HR Communications, intranet development and shared services organization management. Irma graduated with a Master’s Degree in Technology Management from Pepperdine University’s George L. Graziadio School of Business Management and with a Bachelor’s Degree in Management from the University of Phoenix. Irma's desire to serve on the Board at Here to Serve comes from experiencing directly the impact of health crises in families of friends, who have suffered the effects of cancer, including Bryan Quintas, the son of Katie Quintas who is founder of Here to Serve. Irma lives in Monrovia, California and is married to Gary. They have five grown children, Bettina Carter, Krista Granger, Gina Gardner, Cari Macias and Joshua Granger.

Mhayse Samalya

Mhayse Samalya  is a recognized financial services leader credited for his expertise in risk management, compliance, property casualty, life insurance, banking and distribution models. Mhayse has been an independent company director since 2014 and is currently a member of the Board of Directors of The Auto Club Group, Auto Club Insurance Association and its insurance subsidiaries, Auto Club Services, Inc., ACLI Acquisition Company, and AAA Life Insurance Company.

He joins the board of Here to Serve with the desire and mission to take us from a local grass-roots organization to a national name in providing a safety net for the working class through the effective mobilization of community support.

He has more than 30 years of progressively responsible experience primarily in the property casualty business directing as many as 45,000 plus employees and independent contractors in companies with revenues in excess of $19 billion. Mhayse has led various business segments or companies through start-up, survival, turnaround and growth modes.

Mhayse has spent many years in C-suite positions in insurance and has more recently expanded into other industries operating in investor and board roles.  He has a deep understanding of both domestic and international distribution channels including broker dealer, independent and exclusive agent, third party originators and direct to the consumer.

Among his significant previous positions, Mhayse served as President of Farmers Insurance, a $19 billion subsidiary of Zurich Financial Services. He was also President of Hanover Insurance a Massachusetts-based super regional insurance company. Mhayse spent 20 years in positions of increasing responsibility with Citigroup and its predecessor companies. 

Mhayse has a BA degree in political science from Long Island University and an AAE Professional Certification from the University of Pennsylvania-The Wharton School.  Mhayse is an active father of 3 and enjoys reading, working out and is an avid golfer.

Mhayse shares, "One of the things that has made America great and distinguished us from other nations is our flourishing, upwardly-mobile middle class. It has been a buffer between the super wealthy and the less fortunate, providing a stepping stone up and is truly the embodiment of the American Dream. Unfortunately, more and more obstacles make it less likely for the growth and impact of this group, which we expect and aspire to. Here to Serve provides an opportunity for us all to provide a safety net so working-class families don't fall to the bottom rung; specifically when faced with a medical emergency. It's God's work and I am proud to be part of it."

George Erb

George was raised in Camarillo, CA and attended Cal State Northridge on a baseball scholarship. Upon graduation he was accepted to PT School at CSUN, graduating in 1985. George opened his physical therapy practice in 1988, and since then his office has become a leading orthopedic physical therapy treatment center in the area. For the past 27 years, George built strong ties to the Camarillo community. Every Friday night he stood on the sidelines taking care of the Scorpion football team. George Erb Physical Therapy, Inc. is a teaching institution for physical therapy interns from numerous schools, including his alma mater. Believing strongly that people should always give back when they can, George founded the Dee Lilly Scholarship at Cal State Northridge, in honor of his anatomy professor who was instrumental in his education.

Aside from running his businesses, George enjoys the beach, playing golf and spending time with his wife and children, and now his 2-year-old grandson Wyatt. He and his wife Philomena have three adult children. Their daughter Lauren, a Registered Nurse, is married to Casey, a 4th-year Resident in Orthopedic Surgery. Their eldest son, Johnathan, is a Physical Therapist with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Their son Michael is married to hometown sweetheart Kaylee and just completed his PhD in Epigentics from Harvard University in April 2017 publishing a significant paper on his research findings on Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in the journal Nature in March 2017. Michael was recently selected for the prestigious Fellows Research Program at the Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla.

George is excited to join the Board of Directors of Here to Serve as he understands the issues confronting many working-class families facing medical crisis. He hopes his nearly 30 years in health care and operating his businesses will provide value for the organization in achieving its goals and fulfilling its Mission.



F. Kenneth Vudmaska

F. Kenneth Vudmaska has an 18-year career in accounting and operations for hedge funds and financial service firms. Most recently, he was Accounting and Operations Manager at Dalton Investments, Inc. overseeing all facets of firm accounting, and trade operations.  Dalton’s strong Global and Asian investment portfolio as well as its extensive experience in distressed and fixed-income assets.  Before Dalton, Ken oversaw the accounting and fund operations for Giovine Capital Group, a hedge fund company based in the Los Angeles area.  

Ken’s positions at First Quadrant L.P., a boutique financial firm with innovative investment management and dynamic asset allocation strategies, included senior portfolio accounting and performance and quantitative analyst duties, where he focused on accounting for risk management overlay strategies and global macro products, including the options, futures and currency-forward instruments as well as the more traditional equity, equity long/short, portfolios.  During his six years at First Quadrant Ken held a key role in upgrading and transitioning the performance and attribution framework from legacy and old-world proprietary architecture to dynamic-and-robust, cutting-edge systems that delivered internal research, management reporting, individual client statements and marketing-level composite level deliverables.  He worked for Trust Company of the West, facilitating the accounting and operations for the flagship Galileo Funds, as well as a key role in the pricing group.

Ken continues to work in the financial services field part-time, while consulting and pursuing entrepreneurial endeavors.  As Treasurer and Secretary of both Durant Ave. Poutine Company, Inc. (DAPC) & Punks Pizza Garage, Inc. (PPG) Ken seeks to establish and build a premier food-service company from the ground up.  DAPC will establish an international quick-serve, food-service brand to the international market.  PPG will branch out to a variety of market segments in the Los Angeles market with an eye toward regional and then international expansion in the future.

Ken received his Bachelor of Arts from UC Santa Barbara and is involved in the local American Youth Soccer Organization having served as Treasurer and member of the Executive Board and as a coach and referee.  He is also active in his local youth softball communities both as a coach and referee.

Kenneth received his Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy with a concentration in Ethics and Public Policy from the University of California, at Santa Barbara as well as an Associate of Arts degree in Philosophy from Los Angeles Valley College.

Having the personal experience of losing friends and family members to cancer Here to Serve provides a vital service to those who might otherwise lose everything when they need someone to lean on most.  With a middle class that is tasked to do more with less Here to Serve can fill a necessary gap to help provide families a much-needed safety net.
